Over thirty years ago, Wild Bear began as a bold dream: a mountain summer camp launched with just $500 and a deep mission to connect children with nature. Today, that spark has grown into a vibrant year-round hub for our entire community, serving local schools, providing enriching summer and school-break camps, and hosting multi-generational programs that connect whole families with the wild. All told, we proudly welcomed over 20,000 annual visitors to our free nature center before it burned to the ground in the October 2025 Lakeview Fire.  

Now, we are embarking on our most ambitious chapter yet—building the highest-elevation, net-zero nature center in the United States, designed to give back to the land and community.
