About the Artist - Julia Fordyce
Julia Fordyce is a Denver-based multidisciplinary artist who creates work to celebrate the eternal ‘now’, depicting natural elements and ecosystems adapted by memory, connection, and dreams. The ultimate impulse behind her work is to share the solace she has found while creating new worlds and visual stories, which she has found an outlet through a dynamic public art practice. Primarily working in paint, fiber art and pixels, Julia works on a range of scale to craft worlds that blend fiction and fact, examining themes of memory, nature, and the interconnection of personal and historical narratives.
Julia’s previous experience working on public art projects has largely been through murals and design work for communities and organizations working to enact social change in realms of environmentalism, feminism, food justice, mental health, education, and human rights. Through this process, she’s had the pleasure of collaborating with organizations ranging from St. Vincent de Paul to Walmart to Milani Cosmetics, painted schools, universities and alleyways across the U.S, and more. Julia is passionate about creating public art that interrupts and adds to a passerby's daily experience by providing colorful windows into alternate realities, reflexive thought, and inspiration.
