Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity to Host Hard Hats & High Heels Fundraiser at Evergreen Lake House Evergreen, CO on September 18, 2025!
Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity, the local foothills affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is excited to announce its annual Hard Hats & High Heels fundraiser on Thursday, September 18, at the beautiful Evergreen Lake House. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and guests will enjoy an evening of drinks, food, live music, silent auction, and a live auction—all in support of affordable housing for low-income families in our mountain communities. Together, we are making our communities stronger.
This lively event brings together community leaders, local businesses, and individuals to raise critical funds for Blue Spruce Habitat's ongoing home-building projects in Idaho Springs, Evergreen, Conifer, and surrounding areas. Our work ensures that local residents—including teachers, government employees, and healthcare workers—have the opportunity to build and own safe, affordable homes.
Since its founding in 1990 by twelve dedicated volunteers in Evergreen, Blue Spruce Habitat has grown to include hundreds of volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each year. With the support of our community, we are able to construct homes for families in need, helping them achieve long-term stability, build wealth through home equity, and contribute to the prosperity of the community.
Colorado is facing a serious housing affordability crisis. According to Moneywise, our state ranks as the 4th most challenging for first-time homebuyers. Affordable home ownership offers a pathway for low-income families to attain stable housing, build wealth, and strengthen the local economy. By attending Hard Hats & High Heels, you will play a role in ensuring that Blue Spruce Habitat can continue to support local families in building better futures.
Join us for an evening of:
Drinks, Food, Live Music from the Joe Bye Trio, Live Painting by Julianne Miller,
Local Silent Auction Items, Live Auction
and Lots of Fun!

About Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity
Founded in 1990 by concerned local residents, Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity has been dedicated to addressing the need for affordable housing in our mountain communities for 35 years. We serve western Jefferson County, Clear Creek County, and parts of Park County, locating and purchasing land, engaging with volunteers, and constructing safe, affordable homes for local residents.
Building Affordable Homes
To date, Blue Spruce has built over 54 homes, with more construction planned on land already secured in Conifer, Evergreen, and Idaho Springs. We closed on 4 homes so far this year, a powerful step forward in our mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Blue Spruce homeowners are local residents who are teachers, employees of local government, healthcare workers and others. Blue Spruce is fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers who contribute thousands of hours a year building houses, helping with home repair and working at the ReStore.
Beyond Building Homes
While we're best known for building new homes, we also provide critical home repairs through our Home Repair Program. This initiative helps existing homeowners stay safely in their homes by completing an average of 20 essential repairs each year. Projects have included painting, deck repair, landscaping, fire mitigation, weatherization and minor exterior and interior repairs. In partnership with the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), we also offer an Aging-in-Place Program, assisting homeowners aged 65+ with modifications such as grab bars, improved lighting, and flooring repairs—ensuring seniors can continue living independently in safe and accessible spaces.
